The Parking Lot

Capture ideas anytime with the floating lightbulb button.

What is it?

The Parking Lot is the lightbulb button in the bottom-left corner of every page. Tap it, type whatever you're thinking, and save. Takes about five seconds.

It's designed for the moment Chris described: things are flying by in discussion and you have an idea that might be about something from ten minutes ago. Instead of losing it, you park it.

Personal vs. shared

Every idea defaults to personal — only you can see it.

Toggle the switch to "Share with cohort" and the idea goes to the shared "Idea Generation Sessions" project, where the whole class can see it. When sharing is on, you'll see a note confirming that the idea will be visible to the class.

Important: You can always promote a personal idea to shared later, but you cannot take back a shared idea once it's posted.

When to use it

  • During class when something sparks and you don't want to lose the thread
  • Between sessions when an idea hits you while reading, walking, or talking
  • While working on Hero Maps when a connection occurs to you
  • After brainstorming to capture follow-up thoughts

The Parking Lot is available on every page, so you never have to navigate away from what you're doing.

Context tags

There's an optional context tag field — a free-text label you can add to organize your ideas. Examples: "Session 2", "relates to my BIG need", "Hero Map thought", "from reading".

Tags are for your own use. They help you find and group ideas later.
