Getting Started

Welcome to Private Language — start preserving your expertise in minutes.

Private Language captures the tacit knowledge that lives in your practice and preserves it in a form you own and control. Whether you're a ceramicist, educator, clinician, or craftsperson, your expertise matters too much to lose.

Quick start

  1. Create your account at pvtlng.dev/auth/sign-up. The free plan includes 3 captures per month.
  2. Create a project — this is your knowledge domain. Name it after your area of expertise (e.g., "Glaze Chemistry", "Third Grade Math", "Physical Therapy Protocols").
  3. Make your first capture — record a voice memo, upload a photo, or type a reflection about something you did today.
  4. Review your extraction — Private Language analyzes your capture across seven dimensions and shows you what it found.

What is a capture?

A capture is any piece of knowledge you record. It can be:

  • A voice memo after a workshop or session
  • A photo of your materials, workspace, or results
  • A video of a technique in action
  • Text notes about a process, decision, or observation

Each capture is analyzed by AI to extract structured knowledge — the materials, techniques, variables, and patterns embedded in your practice.

What happens after capture?

Your captures feed into a knowledge graph — a living map of your expertise. Over time, Private Language reveals:

  • Patterns you've been living but couldn't articulate
  • Connections between techniques, materials, and outcomes
  • Gaps in your documented knowledge
  • Weekly synthesis reports summarizing what's emerging
